A Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Monday evening killed at least one person and damaged a metro station and medical facilities, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. The Kyiv missile attack struck the city as a series of explosions shook the capital and power was cut in districts east of the Dnipro River, according to Reuters witnesses.
Klitschko said that, according to preliminary information, one person was killed near a supermarket and seven people were injured across the city. He also said there was a strike next to an underground station, and pictures posted on unofficial Telegram channels showed damage at a station and to a tram.

Kyiv missile attack hits Desnyanskyi district
Explosions were heard in Kyiv in the evening of 26 October after 21:40 local time, Kyiv24 reported, citing the mayor. Klitschko said a hit was recorded in the Desnyanskyi district near one of the metro stations, where a car was on fire, and that a team of emergency medical responders heading to a call also came under fire.

Local Telegram channels reported damage to the Lisova metro station, the terminal on the Svyatoshyn-Brovarska line, Kyiv24 said. Monitoring channels warned that further ballistic strikes were possible in the capital through the night.
Medical facilities damaged, emergency crew attacked
Klitschko said explosions shattered windows at two medical facilities. He said a member of an emergency crew had come under attack after rushing to the scene of one strike, Reuters reported.
Reuters witnesses said a series of explosions had jolted the city, and that power had been cut in districts on the east side of the Dnipro River. Other posts said energy infrastructure sites had come under attack, though there was no immediate independent confirmation of the full extent of that damage.
What Russia says
Moscow has long denied that it targets civilians, Reuters noted in its reporting of the attack. The mayor’s account and the Reuters witnesses’ reports describe damage to a metro station, medical facilities and a tram, alongside the death and injuries reported by the city.
The attack came on a day when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said US warnings about imminent Russian ballistic missile strikes had resumed in full, according to Reuters reporting. Kyiv has repeatedly said such warnings give air defences and civilians valuable minutes to react.
