Punjab police mobile stations van serving citizens on a Lahore street

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally launched a fleet of mobile police station vans that will bring 14 essential police services directly to citizens’ doorsteps across the province. A total of 33 vans will operate in different districts, including six Pink mobile police stations staffed to handle women-related matters.

The technology-equipped Punjab police mobile stations are aimed at serving people where they live — especially in areas where reaching a regular police station is difficult — and at cutting the distance, time and travel cost that citizens otherwise face when seeking police services.

FAKTA

  • Initiative: Punjab police mobile station vans — fully equipped mobile units offering 14 police services
  • Launched: 30 September 2026 by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif
  • Fleet: 33 vans across Punjab districts, including 6 Pink mobile police stations for women
  • Services: FIR applications, online e-tagging, missing/lost document reports, criminal record checks, tenant and employee registration, police and character certificate verification, plus learner, new, renewed, duplicate and international driving licences
  • Staffing: each van led by a sub-inspector, with a field supervisor, senior station assistant and male and female constables; supervised by the SHO and beat officer
  • Deployment: scheduled visits to universities and girls’ colleges, plus areas chosen through police emergency helpline 15 data; schedules announced via social media and mosque announcements

The launch

During the launch ceremony, the chief minister inspected a mobile police station van and reviewed its operations. She interacted with the staff on board — including the senior station assistant and the female public guide — and asked about the procedures citizens would follow to get their work done.

Home Secretary Ahmad Javed Qazi briefed the chief minister on the functioning and deployment of the mobile units. According to the briefing, the vans will operate under specially constituted teams in line with established standard operating procedures, with the relevant station house officer and beat officer present in the field to supervise operations. The senior station assistant will manage IT operations, digital databases and online data entry, while male and female constables guide and facilitate citizens.

What the Punjab police mobile stations offer

Each van is a fully functional service centre rather than just a police presence. Citizens visiting a mobile station will be able to access 14 police-related services without travelling to a traditional police station, including:

  • FIR applications and online e-tagging services
  • Missing and lost document reports — including CNICs, cards and cheque books
  • Criminal record checks and police verification
  • Tenant registration and registration of domestic and shop employees
  • Character and police certificate verification
  • Driving licence services — learner permits, new licences, renewals, duplicates and international driving licences

Pink vans for women

Six of the 33 vans have been designated Pink mobile police stations, reserved specifically for women-related matters. These units will have dedicated female staff to make it easier for women to approach the police and to handle sensitive issues — including harassment, violence and abuse against women and children — in a setting where complainants feel safe.

All vans, including the Pink units, will also visit universities and girls’ colleges according to a scheduled programme, bringing services to young women on campus.

How the vans will reach people

Deployment will be driven by data: vans will be dispatched to areas identified through calls received on the police emergency helpline 15, alongside the scheduled campus visits. Officials said the vans are often to be parked at prominent, easily visible locations so that even residents with limited mobility or transport options can reach them.

Citizens will not have to guess when a van is coming. The schedule for each mobile police station’s visits will be published through social media and other communication channels, and announcements will also be made in mosques in the relevant areas before a van arrives.

Conclusion

The Punjab police mobile stations initiative is a practical step toward citizen-centric policing: 33 vans, 14 services and a clear schedule, with dedicated units for women. Its success will be measured not by the launch ceremony but by whether residents of remote and underserved areas genuinely find the police within reach.
