Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha has made history by breaking the men’s half marathon world record with a remarkable time of 56 minutes 51 seconds in Buenos Aires on Sunday.

This achievement not only regains the record for Kejelcha but also surpasses the previous record held by Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo by an impressive 29 seconds, subject to official ratification.

  • Kejelcha’s new record time is 56 minutes 51 seconds.
  • The previous record was held by Jacob Kiplimo with a time of 57:20.
  • Kejelcha also holds the world record for a men’s 10,000m road race.
  • He finished second behind Kenya’s Sebastian Sawe in the London Marathon earlier this year with a time of 1:59:41.
