Atlanta is hosting its first-ever Climate Week from 10 to 15 October 2026, and the week closes on Thursday with the event carrying the most civic weight: the 2026 Climate Resilient ATL Roadshow, where the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience will present the city’s first community-led, data-driven Climate Resilience Action Plan.

The roadshow runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 15 October, on Ponce de Leon Avenue. It marks the culmination of a week of decentralised, community-led programming across the metro area — from a BeltLine community action day on 10 October to a plant-based community potluck after a nature hike at Lake Allatoona on 11 October.

A week built around action

The centrepiece of the week was the daylong Innovation Summit held on Monday, 12 October, at SCADshow on Spring Street NW, featuring six panels on climate innovation, finance and storytelling. On Sunday, 11 October, the documentary A Resilient Future premiered at the Tara Theatre, exploring how nearby landscapes can contribute to the planet’s recovery — a theme connected to Atlanta’s tree canopy.

Flooding got its own spotlight on Monday evening with A Flooded City: Rethinking Infrastructure and Climate Resilience in Metro Atlanta, held in southwest Atlanta where stormwater pressure is a recurring neighbourhood concern. On Wednesday, 14 October, the Drawdown Georgia Business Compact holds an all-hands meeting in Midtown.

Atlanta Climate Week is part of the global Climate Week Network, which links more than 30 climate weeks around the world.

The city’s first resilience plan

The roadshow’s significance lies in what it launches. Atlanta’s stated climate goals include 100% clean energy for all residents by 2035 and a 59% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. City tracking data from August 2026 showed emissions down 21% from 2019 levels — below the interim target of a 25% cut by 2025, underlining why the new plan matters.

The Climate Resilience Action Plan was developed through community engagement, and the roadshow format itself reflects that approach: residents are invited to see the plan, question it and help shape how it is implemented in their neighbourhoods.

Recognition for sustainability leaders

Earlier on Thursday, the Southface Visionary Awards will honour sustainability leaders at the Georgia Aquarium, before the week ends with a community run on the BeltLine at 6:30 p.m.

For a city in the American Southeast — a region facing intensifying heat, storms and flooding — the week represents a notable civic moment: climate policy presented not as a distant negotiation but as a neighbourhood conversation.
