Terrorism in KP

Security forces have successfully neutralized 30 Indian proxy Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists during multiple intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Intelligence-Based Operations in KP

The ISPR stated that the operations were carried out in various districts, including Kurram, Mohmand, and Tank, resulting in the killing of terrorists. An IBO conducted in Mohmand district on November 18-19 resulted in the killing of four terrorists, while another operation in Lakki Marwat district neutralized two khawarij.

Official Statements and Reactions

The ISPR said that security forces killed another Fitna al-Khawarij terrorist during an encounter in the Tank district. In the Kurram district, 12 terrorists were neutralized after an intense exchange of fire during a targeted operation. The military’s media wing also stated that sanitisation operations were underway to eliminate any other India-backed terrorists found in the areas. Broader Implications and Future Outlook

The successful IBOs come as armed forces have intensified efforts to eradicate terrorism under the Azm-e-Istehkam operation. Terrorist attacks have seen a sharp increase in Pakistan, particularly in the bordering provinces of KP and Balochistan, since 2021. A police report noted that KP alone recorded over 600 terror incidents, resulting in the martyrdom of 79 police personnel and 138 civilians during the first eight months of 2025.

  • The violence has spread to other regions of the country, including Islamabad, where a suicide bombing on November 11 resulted in the martyrdom of 12 and injured 36 others.
  • Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul and the international community to address the presence of terrorist groups in the region.
  • The Azm-e-Istehkam operation aims to eradicate terrorism and ensure national security.
